When we lose sight of grace, we lose sight of God.
Some of us think we are morally superior to others because we follow more rules in the Bible. Others of us hate ourselves after we sin and think God never wants anything to do with us. It's time we revisit what it means to be saved by the grace of God, and not by our own works.

Closed doors exist for many reasons....but not because God can't open them. As we live a life directed by the Spirit, we should never panic and pout at the sight of closed doors, but lean on God to make a way where there seems to be no way. Can I get an amen or what?

This week God told me to "be present." I asked Him how, and this is the message I've been inspired to preach on today. I don't think being present is the goal, as much as it is the product of reaching the goal. I think the real goal is learning how to not linger in the past nor worry about the future. It's hard to feel content while comparing other people's blessings to yours. The truth is, our envy and covetousness for other people's things root from our urge to glorify ourselves. This is a problem, because we were created with the purpose to glorify God. When we find ourselves more concerned with glorifying our own image than the image of God, we become idolators.

I pray this one doesn't go over anyone's head. There must be a balance between acknowledging the the trauma, upbringing, and environments that cause us to have a tendency to behave a certain way, and taking responsibility for our actions. Sometimes, we hear "hurt people hurt people" as a way to pardon people from their bad behavior. Although this statement holds truth, God wants His children admitting their own fault everyday.

I've been fed these messages by the Holy Spirit, encouraging the people who think they are too dirty or don't have what it takes. If you're the person this is for, God is trying to let you know something. If He's died for you, and if He has called you, stop thinking you are too dirty or not gifted enough.
